Transform your health from the inside out

I’m Damian Kukulies, an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a degree in psychological science. I help people on medically supervised weight loss programs and after bariatric surgery lose weight safely, and build the skills, habits and relationship with food that make it last, so this time is different.
Who I work with

For people who’ve tried before, and want this time to be different

I work with people who are ready to feel different, but unsure how to move forward, because everything they’ve tried so far hasn’t lasted.
Some are starting a medically supervised weight loss program and want to do it well: lose weight safely, learn the skills to keep it off, and change a long-standing relationship with food. Some are preparing for, or adjusting to, life after bariatric surgery. And some are simply tired of the dieting cycle and ready to go deeper. Different starting points, but almost always the same person underneath: someone who wants the change to finally stick.
Nearly everyone arrives carrying some version of the same story. They’ve tried before, many times, with real effort and real hope. And when it didn’t last, they blamed themselves. But it wasn’t them that failed. It was an approach that kept treating this like a knowledge and willpower problem, when real change is a human problem: understanding yourself, understanding why you eat the way you do, and learning to care for yourself from respect instead of shame.
That’s the work I do. I’ve spent thousands of hours helping people make change that lasts, with an approach that goes beyond advice and meal plans, works at the deeper patterns underneath how you eat, and is delivered with compassion, respect, and clinical integrity.
What I support you with

Where clinical expertise meets genuine human care

People usually come to me when they sense the standard approach isn’t enough, when they want to understand what’s actually happening beneath their eating and their health, and build change that lasts. Here’s where my work makes the biggest difference. And because real care doesn’t happen in isolation, I work alongside GPs, psychologists, surgeons and specialists throughout, so your care stays connected.

Medically supervised weight loss support

For people on a medically supervised weight loss program who want more than the medical side alone. I help you lose weight safely, protect your muscle, and meet your core nutritional needs. And beyond that, we use the window this stage creates to build the skills and sustainable change that make your results last. This is the heart of my Inside Out Program.

Bariatric surgery support

For people preparing for weight loss surgery, or building their life after it. Surgery changes your body powerfully and quickly, and it asks a lot in return. I help you meet its nutritional demands at every stage, lose weight safely and sustainably, and navigate the appetite, eating and emotional adjustments that follow, always in the direction of your goals, not just the scales. Because the procedure is the beginning of lasting change, not the whole plan.

Breaking the dieting cycle

For people who have spent years losing and regaining, restricting and rebounding, and are done with the whole exhausting loop. Together we get underneath the cycle, the patterns, beliefs and needs that keep it turning, and build a steadier, more sustainable way of eating and living that doesn’t need to be started over every Monday.

Emotional eating and your relationship with food

For people whose eating is tangled up with stress, comfort, guilt or reward, and who are tired of feeling out of control around food. This is where my psychologically informed approach matters most: understanding the needs your eating has been meeting, meeting them in better ways, and rebuilding trust between you and food.

Borrowed change: diets, rules and willpower pushing from the outside in, and never lasting

Every arrow pushes inward. The change is borrowed from rules and willpower, and the centre, the person, never changes. Here’s what owned change looks like:

Owned change: aligned goals, self-compassion and lasting habits growing from the inside out
How I work

The Inside Out approach

If you’ve tried to change before, you’ve almost certainly tried to change from the outside in: a new plan, new rules, maybe a new program, pushed into your life through willpower and ever greater discipline. I call that borrowed change, because it never truly belongs to you. It runs on willpower, and willpower runs out. My work is built on a simple map of why that keeps failing, and what owned change looks like instead.
The outer ring: your body

Food, nutrition, medical care, body composition. The clinical essentials: losing weight safely, protecting your muscle, nourishing your body properly. This is where almost all weight loss care begins, and ends.

The middle ring: your patterns

The habits, skills and routines that shape how you actually eat and live. Better programs reach this ring, but they try to force it from the outside: more rules, more discipline, more white-knuckling. Borrowed change. That’s why it never holds.

The inner ring: you

Your relationship with food, your beliefs, the needs your eating has been meeting, and your identity, who you believe yourself to be. This is the ring that drives everything above it, and the one almost nobody works on.

About

Meet Damian Kukulies

I’m a dietitian who has always been fascinated by one question: why is lasting change so hard, even when we know exactly what to do? That question took me beyond nutrition and into a degree in psychological science, and it shapes everything about how I work: blending evidence-based nutrition care with a real understanding of the patterns, beliefs and identity underneath how you eat.
I’ve spent thousands of hours helping people make change that lasts, people on medically supervised weight loss programs, people preparing for or living after bariatric surgery, and people who are simply tired of starting over. I bring a calm, relational style to that work, focused on safety, clarity, and progress that holds.
Away from work I’m a husband and dad who values a grounded, balanced life, and I bring that same presence and authenticity into my work and the people I support.

How we can work together

I take on a limited number of new clients each month, and I work through structured programs rather than one-off appointments, because change that’s deep enough to last isn’t built in a single session. Every program starts the same way: a free assessment and a relaxed intro call, so we both know it’s the right fit before anything begins.

For clients

The Inside Out Program

My flagship 12-month program for people on a medically supervised weight loss journey who want more than weight loss. Thirteen one-to-one sessions, personalised resources and practices, and support between appointments, building the skills, patterns and relationship with food that make results last.

Bariatric surgery support

Structured program support before and after weight loss surgery, from preparation through every stage that follows, so the procedure becomes the beginning of lasting change, not the whole plan. We’ll work out which of my bariatric programs fits you best on our intro call.

For professionals

Professional development for clinicians

I offer mentoring and reflective support for clinicians who want to deepen their work in behaviour change, eating behaviour, and psychologically informed care. This work focuses on clinical confidence, depth, and relational skill.

Workshops and collaborative opportunities

I also provide bespoke training, collaborative sessions, and consultation for teams and organisations seeking a more integrated, human-centred approach to health.
